Cotswolds debuts second Field to Cask series

English distillery Cotswolds has unveiled the first expression in its second Field to Cask series, called Woodlands Farm Whisky.

The new limited release series pays tribute to specific locations that have played a role in the production journey – from the barley fields to the farm buildings where the whisky matures.

This approach is said to emphasise the importance of place in shaping Cotswolds Distillery whisky, highlighting the distillery’s commitment to provenance, traceability and terroir.

The first bottling from the series was drawn from a single first-fill STR (shaved, toasted and recharred) cask, 885, filled on 20 October 2016. The cask was matured at Woodlands Farm in Long Compton, just a few miles from the distillery, and was bottled on 2 December 2024.

Offered at 62.2% ABV, the single malt displays aromas of coconut, dried pineapple, opal fruits and spiced plum, followed on the palate by strawberries, caramelised sugar, red apple and cinnamon notes.

Available exclusively from the Cotswolds Distillery, the release is limited to 126 bottles, each retailing for £125 (US$169).

The series will feature a trio of whiskies, with the next two bottlings set to launch later this year.

Earlier this year, the distillery released the sixth edition in its Hearts and Crafts series, aged exclusively in ex-Calvados casks.
