Blue Run finishes Bourbon in gin barrels
By Miona MadsenCoors Spirits-owned Blue Run Spirits has unveiled a new limited edition Bourbon finished in gin barrels.

Called Glimmer, the new expression is said to break from tradition, as a micro-batch, barrel-proof expression.
Glimmer is the first barrel-finished Bourbon release created by Shaylyn Gammon, head of whiskey development and innovation at Coors Spirits, and marks the second finished release for the Blue Run brand.
The Kentucky straight Bourbon is finished in toasted and charred American oak barrels that were previously used to age Barr Hill Tom Cat gin for seven to 12 months.
Gammon said: “The barrels used in most secondary finishes tend to accentuate the base notes of the whiskey. I chose to use gin barrels because I wanted the liquid to deliver a fresh take on a classic – whether sipped neat or in a cocktail.”
Offered at 51.6% ABV, the Bourbon offers delicate botanical aromas and pine on the nose, followed by honey, cardamom, char, cocoa, and herbal notes on the palate.
The bottle showcases an iridescent effect in the glass, chosen to match Gammon’s inaugural whiskey release from Blue Run Spirits. Each bottle is decorated with a soft violet viceroy butterfly medallion, enhancing the prismatic appearance of the glass.
Blue Run Glimmer is limited to fewer than 90 cases, with a suggested retail price per bottle set at US$149.99. The Bourbon will be rolled out nationwide in the US from August.
Based in Georgetown, Kentucky, Blue Run Spirits was founded in 2020. The brand has been part of the Molson Coors’ spirits division since August 2023.
