Ardbeg concludes Anthology series
The Glenmorangie Company has unveiled the third and final limited edition single malt whisky in Ardbeg’s Anthology series, which was inspired by mythical creatures.

Ardbeg’s last expression in the experimental trilogy, The Beithir’s Tale, is named after a mythological, serpent-like beast.
The first release, a 13-year-old single malt called The Harpy’s Tale, was launched in August 2023, followed by 14-year-old The Unicorn’s Tale in July 2024.
The Ardbeg Anthology trilogy of single malts aims to blend classic Ardbeg with experimental stock to create ‘sweeter, more delicate’ flavours.
The Beithir’s Tale is the distillery’s first whisky matured in designer, air-seasoned, heavily toasted, and lightly charred Bourbon casks, crafted to Ardbeg’s particular specifications.
After 15 years of maturation, the experimental single malt presents an array of aromas, including treacle, creosote, smoked herbs, toasted apples, raisins, fennel and pine. On the palate, it reveals flavours of peat smoke, coffee grounds, currants, sweet lemon balm, and smoked mandarins, finishing with notes of vanilla and smoked butter.
Gillian Macdonald, master blender of Ardbeg, said: “We are always pushing the boundaries of Ardbeg to discover even more flavour combinations. The sweet and smoky ‘hybrids’ of Ardbeg Anthology are as experimental as they come.
“Created from whisky matured in our designer casks, The Beithir’s Tale is the aromatic and sweet finale of our Anthology series.
“Named after a mythological, serpentine beast, this 15-year-old whisky invites notes of vanilla and smoked butter to slide through Ardbeg’s classic aromatic flavours of peat smoke, fennel, eucalyptus and pine. Rather like the beithir, it is smooth and mysterious… with a smoky, menthol bite.”
Ardbeg Anthology: The Beithir’s Tale is offered at 46% ABV and retails for RRP £135 (US$179).
The limited release will be available on the distillery’s website and at the visitor centre on Islay, as well as in Ardbeg Embassies and select whisky specialists.
