Texan distillers rally for flood relief
Distilleries Treaty Oak, Garrison Brothers and Milam & Greene are gathering supplies and raising funds after severe flooding in Texas Hill Country.

Disaster struck Texas Hill Country, a region of central and south Texas, on 4 July when severe flooding swept through the area, killing 109 people while another 161 remain missing. In the days since, distillers in the area have organised relief efforts and channelled any fundraising opportunities towards the victims of the flood.
On 5 July, Treaty Oak Distilling in Dripping Springs, Texas began posting resources to Instagram, beginning with a post that began “Our Texas neighbours need us.”
The distillery started collecting donations of cleaning supplies, medical supplies, food and water, emergency items, hygiene products, tools, and gift cards to be distributed to Kerrville, Georgetown, Seguin and other impacted areas in Central Texas.
“These past few days have been filled with emotion and inspiration,” High Basin Brands chief marketing officer Jordan Rothschild-Noomé said.
“Within minutes [of posting], messages started pouring in, not just from around Texas, but from across the country. People asked what they could send, how they could donate, where they could show up. And then they did. By the thousands. And are still messaging around the clock days later.”
Treaty Oak quickly partnered with local businesses to create multiple delivery points, ensuring supplies reached the hardest-hit areas. Rothschild-Noomé says that Amazon packages have been sent from across the country, while a group of motorcyclists from Dallas brought pallets of water.
“We’d like to sincerely thank everyone who’s donated, shared, organised, dropped off supplies, or simply sent a kind message, thank you,” Rothschild-Noomé said. “You’ve reminded us what humanity looks like at its very best.”
Bottle fundraisers
Meanwhile, Garrison Brothers Distillery in Hye, Texas has announced that funds raised from the upcoming release of its Guadalupe cask strength Bourbon will be donated to flood relief efforts rather than to Gulf Trust as originally planned.
On Saturday 12 July, starting at 8am, every bottle purchased will yield a US$50 donation to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund operated by the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country. Garrison Brothers Distillery will match the first US$10,000 donation.
“As Texans, we are all profoundly impacted and know so many who have been devastated by this incredible tragedy,” owners Dan and Nancy Garrison said.
“Our prayers and support are with our friends, neighbours and first responders in Kerr County and the surrounding Hill Country. At Garrison Brothers, we will certainly be doing our part to comfort and help families, first responders and businesses affected.”
In addition to the bottle fundraiser, Garrison Brothers will donate 100% of the profits raised that day from the sales of food and drinks. To date, the distillery has raised US$18,000 of its US$100,000 goal.
Milam & Greene in Blanco, Texas is likewise donating a portion of bottle sales to relief efforts, posting to Instagram on 8 July that through 15 July, 15% of all online and distillery sales will be donated to the Community foundation of Texas Hill Country. This coming Saturday (6 July), 50% of Unabridged bottle sales will be donated, while a partnership with retailer Spec’s will see up to US$20 of each bottle sold donated to Texas Pets Alive for animal rescues.
