Ron Matusalem master blender goes on tour
Cuban rum Ron Matusalem has concluded the first part of its international tour, led by the brand’s master blender, Cynthia Vargas.

Ron Matusalem’s The Master Blender Tour 2025 will include 13 capital cities across Europe and Asia.
The first part of the tour finished in June and featured seven European cities: Berlin, Paris, Madrid, Budapest, Brussels, Vilnius and Prague.
The second instalment will kick off in October with a focus on Asia. The tour will visit Hong Kong, Shanghai, Bangkok, Tokyo and Kuala Lumpur.
The tour showcases the brand’s expertise in ageing and wood selection, cultivated over more than 150 years, now under the leadership of Vargas, who has spent more than two decades in the rum industry.
During the tour, Vargas will share her experience with experts and industry professionals.
She will also make an exclusive announcement about an ultra-premium product set to be released in September. This new offering reflects the brand’s ongoing commitment to leading innovation in the category.
In addition to being the guardian of the original Gran Reserva 15 recipe, Vargas has become a pivotal figure in the contemporary advancements of premium rum.
Vargas has trained as a food engineer and holds a Master’s degree in quality systems and studies in oenology at the University of California.
She joined Ron Matusalem in 2003, where she works alongside the fifth-generation Álvarez family.
Vargas is behind innovations such as Insolito, the world’s first rosé rum, and the recent Sublime Limited Edition, which was created to commemorate the brand’s 150th anniversary.
In May, Ron Matusalem teamed up with Sips co-founder Marc Álvarez to create a collection of seven cocktails that reinterprets the brand’s core range.
