Phoenix’s train-themed bar gets new menu

Platform 18 in Phoenix, Arizona, is inspired by New York City in the 1920s and has created a new cocktail list called Midnight in Harlem.

The bar is a concept from Barter & Shake and is located inside the Century Grand bar.

The new menu is described as the ‘instalment of Platform 18’s journey through New York City in the 1920s’. For the new menu, the team explored the foundations of the Jazz Era.

The menu is divided into Quick Picks, At The Station, Unlikely Syndicate, Dinner & Dancing and After Dinner.

Each drink on the menu is attributed to the team member who created it.

From At The Station, Show Me The Set Ups features ‘smuggled spirits’ alongside makrut lime, ginger, red mango and yuzu.

Meanwhile, Unlikely Syndicate features cocktails named after iconic professions from the 1920s. The Film Star is made with olive oil-washed Sweet Gwendoline Gin, Grey Goose Vodka, lemon-infused Kina Lillet, orange and thyme caramel corn; while the West Side Cowboy combines Garrison Brothers Bourbon, pecan honey, red grapefruit and honey-roasted chopped pecans.

Dinner & Dancing offers the Call Her Marguerite, made using ‘pineapple-jacked’ Ana Maria Tequila, Suze Gentian, cacao nib agave nectar, guajillo and a chocolate feather.

For an After Dinner serve, guests can enjoy the Coffee Con Cubano, which features Café Bustelo Wheatley Vodka, Clément Créole Shrubb, pu’erh tea-infused Chairman’s Reserve Rum, tobacco bitters, cold brew, orange oil and a chocolate cigarette.

The bar also offers a trio of alcohol-infused ice creams, including the Wicked City. This is made with Los Vecinos Espadin, green Chartreuse, Dutch processed cocoa, dark chocolate, fudge chunks and a lime and Fernet ‘cochinoto’.

The food offering comprises small bites, such as lobster toast, with a caviar service to debut soon.

Barter & Shake’s other concepts include Sunny’s Lounge, UnderTow and Grey Hen Rx.
