Gold Bar unveils crypto-inspired whiskeys

San Francisco-based American whiskey brand Gold Bar has released two limited editions inspired by cryptocurrencies.

The two new expressions, Gold Bar Whiskey Bitcoin Reserve and Satoshi Reserve, are presented in the distillery’s signature gold bar-shaped bottle.

The company, which launched in 2013, says the new expressions are designed for collectors, crypto enthusiasts, and whiskey connoisseurs.

Bitcoin Reserve is a blend of straight Bourbons aged between five and 14 years, finished in red wine casks from Sonoma and Napa Valley in California.

The whiskey is limited to 21,000 bottles, mirroring the 21 million cap on the cryptocurrency. Offered at 46.5% ABV, Bitcoin Reserve retails for US$99.

Satoshi Reserve, on the other hand, is a limited expression celebrating 15 years since the ‘first real-world’ use of cryptocurrency.

The single barrel rye whiskey is crafted from a mash bill consisting of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. It is distilled at MGP Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. The whiskey has been finished in French oak wine casks that were previously used to age premium red wines from Sonoma and Napa Valley.

Offered between 57.5% and 61.5% ABV, Satoshi Reserve is limited to 999 individually numbered bottles, each retailing for US$699.

Each bottle contains two collector-grade coins: one is embedded in the bottle’s design, while the second is housed in a velvet display case as a tactile tribute to Bitcoin’s legacy.

Bottle owners automatically become members of the Satoshi VIP Digital Gold Club, granting them exclusive access to future releases, private events at the Gold Bar Distillery in San Francisco, and early access to select concert ticket drops and other curated experiences.

Elliott Gillespie, president of The Gold Bar Spirits Company, said: “These new releases honour the visionary nature of cryptocurrency while staying true to our core of innovation, craftsmanship, and storytelling. We’re blending tradition with modernity to create a truly unique offering.”

Both limited editions are available on the distillery’s website and through retail partners, with shipping available nationwide in the US.
