CopperBay cocktails celebrate famous guests
The CopperBay bar at Hotel Lancaster in Paris has introduced a new cocktail menu to mark the hotel’s 100th anniversary.

The new menu is inspired by the guests and public figures that the hotel has hosted since it opened its doors in 1925.
Over the past century, Hotel Lancaster on the Champs-Élysées has welcomed a diverse array of guests, including British royalty and icons from Hollywood’s golden age. Notable guests have included Marlene Dietrich, who made the hotel her home for three years, as well as distinguished figures such as Queen Elizabeth, Humphrey Bogart, Clark Gable, Lauren Bacall, Elizabeth Taylor, and Richard Burton.
Each of the 10 cocktails in the collection is said to tell a unique story, blending forgotten flavours with modern flair, enhanced by CopperBay Lancaster’s signature style.
The menu
The first cocktail on the menu, Émile Wolf, honours the man who purchased the building in 1925. Inspired by the classic French 75 cocktail, the serve combines Bear Brothers gin with micro-citrus, lemon, Dolin Génépi, fresh sage, and Deutz Champagne.
Next is the Marlene Dietrich cocktail, named after the legendary actor who lived at the Lancaster from 1937 to 1939. In honour of her fondness for an Old Fashioned, the cocktail combines WhistlePig rye whiskey with honey-infused beer and Christmas spices, finished with a touch of orange bitters.
A nod to silver-screen glamour, the iconic 1960s couple Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton are celebrated with a duo of cocktails. The Elizabeth Taylor is a Chocolate Martini made with Bear Brothers vodka, dry vermouth, and white cocoa liqueur.
On the other hand, in tribute to Burton, his namesake Orange Dry Martini combines Bear Brothers Clementine Vodka and Colombo orange.
The Boris Pastoukhoff cocktail, named after the Ukrainian painter who lived at the hotel after World War II and often paid for his stay with art, is a twist on the Corpse Reviver. It features Blanche d’Armagnac and absinthe.
Meanwhile, the Felix Ziem cocktail pays tribute to the 19th-century artist known for his Venetian landscapes, two of which are still displayed in the bar. The serve is a Bellini-inspired blend of RinQuinQuin, white peach, and Deutz Champagne.
Paying tribute to the French family that owns the hotel, Le Propriétaire is inspired by a New York Sour cocktail, crafted with Hennessy Cognac, Corinthian raisin syrup, verjuice, a St-Émilion wine float, and Angostura bitters.
The Monsieur serve celebrates an employee named Christophe, who has dedicated 20 years to the hotel and knows the venue inside and out. His namesake cocktail is a non-alcoholic drink with a subtle bitterness.
The Directeur is a clarified cocktail inspired by the Ivory Coast, featuring Seychelles-based rum Takamaka Zenn, banana nectar, bissap, and toasted peanuts.
The Team CopperBay cocktail honours the Mediterranean spirit the staff brought to the Hotel Lancaster in 2022. The serve highlights their signature spirits, BB13 gin and Mauresco pastis, balanced with lemon, orange blossom, and soda water.
Completing the menu is The Chef, a collaborative creation from the hotel’s chef and bar teams. Inspired by tzatziki, the cocktail features dill vodka, cucumber, lemon, Skinos, and Thai basil cordial, all blended with clarified goat’s milk for a fresh and savoury finish.
