The Bartender of the Year prize was a new addition to the 2024 iteration of the awards. The accolade was bestowed upon Takuma Watanabe, co-owner and beverage director at Martiny’s. The Runner-up recognised the achievements of Alice Linihan.

The Spirits Business Awards categories span key areas of the global drinks industry: Retail & Marketing, Sustainability & Innovation, Culture & Tourism, Product & Brand, and People. The deadline to enter this year’s awards is 27 June.

Carl Churchill, CEO, V Spirits Company, said: “We’re proud to sponsor the Bartender of the Year award and serve as the official rum pour at this year’s The Spirits Business Awards.

“At V Rum, we believe bartenders are the frontline innovators of our industry and should be celebrated – they shape trends, educate consumers, and bring brands to life, one pour at a time.

“Supporting this category is about championing the skill, creativity, and dedication that define great hospitality. For us, it’s more than just a partnership; it’s a statement about where rum is headed, and the role we want to play in that evolution.”

V Rum is a premium British sustainable rum that aims to ‘bring the party back to rum’. The portfolio is made in Southampton, England.

The brand’s portfolio includes V Spiced Rum, Premium White Rum, and Overproof White Rum.

The Spirits Business Awards ceremony will return to The Underglobe Theatre in London on 13 November this year.

English comedian Rob Beckett has been confirmed as this year’s host.

In 2024, the inaugural black-tie awards ceremony took place at The Underglobe theatre in London, where Strictly Come Dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman announced the winners.

Melita Kiely, editor-in-chief of The Spirits Business and chair of the awards judging, said: “The calibre of entries in 2024 was incredibly high, and we were delighted to reward so many talented individuals, brands and companies for their achievements.

“I’m looking forward to judging this year’s entries, and I’ve no doubt we’ll be seeing even more examples of excellence across the spirits industry.”
