Spirits Europe names new director general
By Melita KielyMark Titterington will take up the position of director general of trade body Spirits Europe on 1 September.

Titterington is currently the co-founder and director of the Forum for the Future of Agriculture.
Spirits Europe announced at the start of 2025 that Ulrich Adam would leave his post as director general of the association in March. He had been in the role for seven years. He left after being appointed director general of Orgalim in Brussels, viewed as ‘the voice of Europe’s technology industries’.
Hervé Dumesny, former group chief financial officer of Rémy Cointreau, has been acting as interim director.
Ian McLernon, president of Spirits Europe, commented: “On behalf of Spirits Europe, I warmly welcome Mark as our new director general.
“His depth of experience, his leadership and vision will be great assets in guiding our sector through both opportunities and challenges from 1st September onward.”
For most of Titterington’s career, he has been working in the agri-food sector in senior leadership, consulting and executive legal roles spanning policy, partnerships, sustainability, and marketing and communications.
He has also worked in a range of advisory positions at the EU-US Transatlantic Policy Network.
In November last year, the trade body unveiled a roadmap to tackle what it called the “increasing weaponisation of trade”.
‘Objective 2030’ is a detailed roadmap for an EU open trade policy, which was released at Spirits Europe’s Summit 2024. Its aim is to support competitiveness, resilience and growth in the future.
