Spirits distributor Salud will introduce two new editions of Scarabus Scotch whisky to Austria from June.

Owned by Hunter Laing & Co, Scarabus Islay single malt aims to ‘push the boundaries of flavour and craftsmanship’.

The brand launched two new editions in February 2025, which it sources from an undisclosed distillery on Islay.

The first of the releases, Sherry Cask Edition, is a non-age-statement expression matured in first-fill Sherry casks. It is bottled at 46% ABV.

Available in Austria from June, the single malt offers notes of Seville orange, raspberries, marzipan, earthy peat, salted caramel, and ash.

Scarabus 30-year-old Islay single malt is bottled at 42.6% ABV. It displays earthy notes, accompanied by maritime salt, smoked ham, hints of toffee, vanilla, and citrus fruits.

Due to high demand, the 30-year-old expression is expected to land in Austria in mid-2025.

Maria Kitsati, country director of Salud Austria, said: “We are thrilled to bring these exceptional additions to whisky lovers in Austria. Alongside our core range of Islay, 10-year-old and Batch Strength, these new editions embody the spirit of Scarabus and the rich heritage of Islay whisky.”

Last month, Salud launched Papa Salt Gin, co-founded by actor Margot Robbie, in Austria.

The company’s Netherlands-based Salud Spirits also unveiled the seventh and final edition in the Chichibu 7even Gods of Fortune series last month.
