Redwood Empire joins Charter Brands
Californian whiskey brand Redwood Empire has partnered with distributor Charter Brands to launch its products across continental Europe.

Redwood Empire is an American whiskey, Bourbon and rye brand within the Purple Brands portfolio, founded by Derek Benham in 2001.
The new export partnership with Charter Brands is part of the Redwood’s growth plan, which last year included the company’s acquisition of Californian distillery, Savage & Cooke, to increase its production.
Mark Fogleman, sales director of Redwood Empire, said: “With a proven track record, Charter Brands brings deep industry expertise, robust distribution networks, and strong local relationships that will help introduce Redwood Empire – the leading California Bourbon and whiskey portfolio – to whiskey enthusiasts across Europe.
“As Redwood Empire continues to surpass category growth in the US, this partnership marks a significant step in expanding our global presence.
“For the first time, consumers across continental Europe will have access to our award-winning whiskeys in retail stores, bars, and restaurants.”
Charter Brands will introduce the brand to both the on-trade and off-trade across Europe, expanding its whiskey portfolio, which includes Virginia Distillery American single malt whisky, Dublin’s Own Irish whiskey, and Milk & Honey from Israel.
Matt Ashton-Melia, managing director of Charter Brands, said: “Having recently onboarded Virginia Distillery, America’s most award-winning single malt whiskey brand, we are delighted to make our first move into the Bourbon and rye categories working with Redwood Empire.
“The brand has already made strong moves in the UK market, and a big thank you goes to Becky Davies for bringing Redwood Empire and Charter Brands together.
“We’re immensely excited to build on this positive start and expand the distribution of this fantastic range through Europe and in time beyond.
Ashton-Melia praised the recent acquisition of San Francisco-based Savage & Cooke Distillery, which not only increased the capacity to produce whiskey and to cater to the brand’s expansion plans, but also serves as a destination to welcome the trade and distribution partners.
“We’re very excited to be working with Fogleman and the team at Purple Brands, and are very hopeful of what we can achieve with the brand in the years that follow,” Ashton-Melia concluded.
