Dobel unveils animal-inspired extra añejos
By Miona MadsenProximo Spirits-owned Dobel Tequila has unveiled the latest release in its collectable Atelier series: Animales Endémicos.

Presented in six unique, hand-painted bottles, Dobel Atelier: Animales Endémicos is the collection’s third US edition.
The Dobel Atelier series is described as a collectable celebration of culture, craftsmanship, and ultra-premium Tequila, and continues the brand’s mission to tell the stories of Mexico through art and spirits.
Juan Dobel, founder of Dobel Tequila, said: “Dobel is built on 11 generations of Tequila-making legacy, and the Atelier series reflects our dedication to redefining aged Tequila.
“This extra añejo showcases the depth of our Tequila heritage and reflects the artistry of Mexico, inside and out.”
The new limited edition extra añejo Tequila has been aged for more than three years in new American and European oak barrels.
The resulting liquid offers aromas of dried fruit, pineapple, butter, apple, prune and cinnamon, with charred oak, toasted almond, and myriad spices on the palate.
Every bottle in the Animales Endémicos collection is hand-painted by Oaxacan artisans using traditional techniques typically applied to decorate ‘alebrijes’, which are small figurines depicting fantastical creatures from Oaxaca. The bottles feature bright, vivid colours and intricate dotted patterns.
This year’s bottle designs are inspired by various animals native to Mexico: the axolotl, the jaguar, the monarch butterfly, the dwarf jay, the Tamaulipas owl, and the Mexican wolf.
The collection is now available in limited quantities across the US and online on the brand’s website with a suggested retail price of US$250.
Earlier this year, the brand released the first expression in its Dobel Grandes Maestros range, the mezcal barrel-finished Francisco Toledo Edition.
