Bar creates smashburger-infused cocktail

Sunny’s Lounge, a cocktail bar in Phoenix, Arizona, has created a riff on an Old Fashioned that features smashburger-infused Bourbon.

Called the Malevolent James, the serve is a partnership between Sunny’s Lounge and local smashburger joint Bad Jimmy’s.

The cocktail is made by first adding burgers to Jim Beam Bourbon and blending. The team then filters the mixture and adds Corazón Añejo Tequila, celery bitters, brioche and dill pickle.

Guests will also receive a boozy mini-malt alongside the cocktail.

The new menu from Sunny’s Lounge features other less meaty cocktails, such as M E Lee’s Sesame Manhattan. This serve features ‘sesame-kissed’ Tullamore Dew, Rittenhouse Rye, Planteray OFTD, house amaro, sesame-cherry and orange oil.

Other culinary-inspired cocktails include the Guac & Roll, Bitches, which features avocado, Midori, mezcal, Suze, poblano, lime and grapefruit. Meanwhile, Daaammmmnnn features Jolly Rancher-infused Worthy Park rum, which is paired with strawberry Aperol, banana, lime and tropical foam.

Sunny’s Lounge is part of Barter & Shake, an Arizona-based hospitality group that includes Platform 18, UnderTow and Grey Hen Rx.

Culinary-inspired cocktails have been on the rise recently. Shinji’s bar in New York created a serve inspired by Japanese karaage, while ISCO Spirits debuted a vodka made from pizza.
