Saint James Rum blends prunes with vanilla
By Miona MadsenAgricole rum brand Saint James, which is owned by La Martiniquaise-Bardinet, has unveiled its latest creation: Nectar du Maître de Chai.

Saint James Distillery has been crafting rum from pure sugar cane from its own plantations since 1965.
Now, the AOC Martinique-certified brand has created an infused aged rum, Nectar du Maître de Chai. The expression launched in mid-April at Rhum Fest Paris.
The artisanal expression is said to ‘bridge generations of craftsmanship with a fresh, creative vision’.
A first for the distillery, the expression uses controlled maceration of prunes and Bourbon vanilla pods, matured in the tropical conditions of cellars in Sainte-Marie, Martinique.
The result is an elegant and aromatic rum, displaying aromas of vanilla, subtle wood, macerated fruits, and almond kernels. The palate echoes these aromas with additional notes of candied fruit.
Due to the rum’s cask process, natural cloudiness or deposits may occur.
Nectar du Maître de Chai is bottled at 40% ABV and recommended to be enjoyed neat at room temperature.
Last year, Saint James released a limited edition 18-year-old rum matured in ex-Bourbon American oak barrels. The brand’s portfolio also includes seven-, 12- and 15-year-old age-statement rums.
