Proper No. Twelve debuts its first single malt
By Ted SimmonsThe inaugural Irish single malt whiskey from Proximo Spirits-owned Proper No. Twelve has been aged for 13 years.

The limited edition 13-year-old has been aged in a combination of first-fill American oak Bourbon casks and European oak second-fill ruby Port casks.
The whiskey is bottled at 43% ABV and available for US$60 at select retailers in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Tennessee, Texas, and Arizona.
“The release of our 13-year-old single malt marks a major milestone in Proper No. Twelve’s journey, as the brand launches its first aged single malt whiskey,” Lander Otegui, executive vice-president of marketing for Proximo Spirits, said.
“This 13-year-old single malt is a more refined expression that still holds true to our roots — bold, accessible, and built for those who appreciate character.
“It’s a celebration of the exciting future ahead as we continue to expand the brand’s Irish whiskey offerings and disruptor approach to the category.”
The single malt is the third release from Proper No. Twelve since the brand was founded in 2018. In February 2023, it launched an apple-flavoured expression.
In 2021, the brand was sold to Jose Cuervo and Bushmills owner Proximo Spirits in a deal worth up to US$600 million.
Last year, founder and mixed martial artist Conor McGregor was dropped as the face of the brand after he was found liable for sexual assault.
The maker of Jose Cuervo recently reported a sales increase of 7.5% in the first quarter (Q1) of 2025, following a 0.9% decline in its 2024 full year.
Outside of Tequila, the group’s other spirits (which include Proper No. Twelve, Irish whiskey Bushmills, Three Olives Vodka and Kraken rum) saw net sales rise by 4.7% during Q1.
