OurWhisky platform brings global whisky community together
By Georgie CollinsNonprofit organisation OurWhisky Foundation has launched a digital platform and app designed to connect whisky industry professionals around the world.

Described as the first platform of its kind, the OurWhisky Foundation Community aims to bring together and connect professionals from all areas of the whisky industry, with a specific focus on empowering, recognising and supporting women working in the category.
Through one-to-one messaging, courses, exclusive content and events, open chat functions and curated discussion boards, the platform offers members a wealth of opportunities to engage with peers and learn from them too.
OurWhisky Foundation’s executive director Marissa Johnston said: “I am thrilled to announce the launch of the OurWhisky Foundation Community, a pioneering platform designed to connect whisky professionals while championing our mission to recognise, support and empower women working in whisky around the world.
“By fostering greater collaboration within the global whisky community, we aim to address the unique challenges women face, helping them thrive in their careers. I invite everyone to join us on this exciting journey as we enhance our collective impact and celebrate diversity in the world of whisky.”
All facets of the community have been created to foster collaboration, furthering and bettering the members’ professional and personal lives, contributing to a more connected global whisky industry.
Additional benefits of the OurWhisky Foundation Community include opportunities connect with like-minded individuals who are passionate about whisky for mutually enriching learning experiences; a chance to gain personalised insights and guidance from industry experts, providing an enhanced understanding of the whisky world; opportunities to discover new career prospects via the jobs board; access to exclusive virtual events and meet-ups, as well as discounts on live regional events; the chance to build a supportive network of peers – all of whom are eager to share knowledge and grow in the spirits industry; and the opportunity to contribute to a more inclusive whisky industry through member discussions.
OurWhisky Foundation founder, Becky Paskin, said of the launch: “The OurWhisky Foundation Community has been a long-term ambition of ours, so we’re proud to finally reveal our new, smart and intuitive platform. Great things happen when people unite in pursuit of common goals, so we’re excited to see how whisky professionals use the community to collaborate, create and connect across the world, contributing to a more inclusive, welcoming and thriving industry.”
Gillian Macdonald, master blender and head of whisky creation at The Glenmorangie Company, and member of the community, added: “Having the OurWhisky Foundation Community available within the whisky industry is such a great resource for connecting with people, finding out direct and true information as well as job opportunities. It is a community of knowledgeable folk where everyone can benefit from being an active member.”
The OurWhisky Foundation Community will launch with a series of online and live events which will run throughout the year. Confirmed upcoming events include a networking event on 14 May called ‘World Whisky Day – Whisky show & tell’, and a panel discussion on 29 May titled ‘How do we celebrate women in the whisky industry year-round?’.
Memberships are available from £10 (US$13) per month. Funds raised will go towards operation of the platform as well as other initiatives from the OurWhisky Foundation.
