Lofted Spirits promotes Dan Callaway to master blender
By Ted SimmonsDan Callaway will oversee blending duties for Bardstown Bourbon and Green River Distilling Co as well as the company’s contract business.

Formerly vice-president of product development at Bardstown Bourbon Company, Callaway will now assume the role of master blender, a move that Lofted Spirits says is in recognition of his long-standing influence on the company’s innovation-driven whiskey programme.
“Dan approaches whiskey with a rare blend of creativity and precision – he’s a true visionary and one of the most forward-thinking blenders in American whiskey today,” Lofted Spirits CEO Mark Erwin said.
“As master blender, he’ll continue shaping the future of our innovative brands and pushing the boundaries of what American whiskey can be.”
Callaway joined Bardstown Bourbon Company in April 2018, with the company quickly becoming one of the industry’s preeminent contract distillers.
In July 2022, Bardstown Bourbon acquired Green River Distilling, and in March this year, Lofted Spirits was established, placing both distilling operations under one single name.
In addition to blending for both product lines, Callaway will also oversee Lofted Custom Spirits, the company’s contract distillation arm.
Under Callaway’s stewardship, Bardstown’s collaborative finishes and experimental blends have received industry acclaim and garnered consumer attention. Elevating Callaway to master blender is part of a broader strategic evolution for Lofted Spirits and its house of brands.
In late January, The Spirits Business joined Callaway as he bid on vintage bottles of Green River at Sotheby’s in New York.
