‘Elevated’ Bols Blue 1575 debuts in UK
By Miona MadsenDistributor Maverick Drinks has welcomed Lucas Bols Company’s new ‘elevated’ liqueur, Bols Blue 1575, into its brand portfolio.

Created to mark 450 years of distilling at the Bols Distillery in Amsterdam, Netherlands, the reimagined blue Curaçao liqueur was developed in partnership with bartenders.
To ‘meet the standards of modern mixology’, Bols Blue 1575 has an ‘enhanced’ flavour and a higher ABV of 29.5%. Last month, the firm’s incoming CEO Frank Cocx told us about his ambitions to make Bols the “hero brand” for blue liqueurs.
The company launched the ‘world’s first’ blue Curaçao liqueur, made with oranges from the island of Curaçao, in 1912. More than a century later, the reimagined liqueur combines ‘all-natural flavours with distilled orange peels with a botanical spiced rum base, layered with island-inspired ingredients including vanilla, grains of paradise, and cardamom’.
Hannah Burden-Teh, brand manager of Maverick Drinks, said: “We’re excited to be launching Bols Blue 1575 in the UK. As a market that consistently sets the pace in cocktail culture and bartender innovation, we’re looking forward to seeing how the trade responds to this must-have new mixology ingredient.
“This is a whole new standard of blue Curaçao. There is no other product like it, and it stands shoulder to shoulder with other big brand liqueurs.
“We’re seeing a clear revival of blue cocktails across global bar scenes, driven by a broader consumer appetite for nostalgia, bold flavour, and visually striking serves. This liquid delivers on all three.
“Developed in collaboration with bartenders, it combines elevated flavour and a higher ABV with a distinctive aesthetic that resonates with both professional and at-home mixologists. With increased interest in cocktail hosting and premium ingredients at home, we expect strong uptake across both on- and off-trade.”
Bols Blue 1575 will be available in the UK from this month (May). It has a suggested retail price of £30.95 (US$41).
The liqueur’s drum-inspired bottle is made from 50% recycled glass.
Maverick Drinks’ portfolio includes brands such as Drinks by the Dram, Bathtub Gin, That Boutique-y Whisky Company, Blackeye Gin, and CoachBuilt.
To launch Bols Blue 1575 in the UK, Maverick Drinks is focusing on a serve-led strategy, with signature cocktails including twists on the Spritz, Margarita, Corpse Reviver, and Martini.
