Released as part of Bushmills’ World Wood TREX (travel retail exclusive series), the new 18-year-old single malt will make its debut at the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference in Singapore next week (11-15 May) on the Promixo Spirits stand, Basement 2N11.

The new release will launch exclusively across the Asia Pacific region in May 2025, supported by activations at key airports, followed by a rollout to global travel retail (GTR) worldwide from January 2026.

Roy Summers, head of GTR at Proximo Spirits, said: “We are thrilled to further strengthen our travel retail portfolio, specifically our offering to regional partners in Asia, with Bushmills 18-year-old single malt.

“I’m delighted to be introducing this incredible new liquid to visitors at the forthcoming TFWA Asia Pacific event, expanding the World Wood TREX Series.”

The collection of small batch whiskeys was created by Bushmills’ master blender, Alex Thomas, by utilising barrels from cooperages and winemakers worldwide.

Aged in Bourbon and oloroso Sherry casks for a minimum of 17 years, the new 18-year-old was finished in Colheita Port casks from the Douro Valley, Portugal – a first for the Irish distillery.

The casks were used to mature Port for 15-20 years, ensuring its impact on the resulting whiskey’s character, as Thomas explained: “Each Colheita Port cask has a phenomenal aromatic intensity. When we first opened them, a flood of sensational, warm, fresh and deep fruit flavours filled the room. It was incredible.

“This mouth-watering depth of flavour is what makes this 18-year-old release so unique – perfectly complementing our deeper floral and fruity Bushmills DNA.”

The Bourbon casks are said to introduce vanilla and almond notes, while the Sherry butts impart richer dried fruit flavours and subtle spice. The Colheita Port casks introduce vibrant, intense fruit notes alongside a crème brûlée sweetness.

Offered at 46% ABV, Bushmills 18-Year-Old Single Malt World Wood TREX has a suggested retail price of US$140 for a 700ml bottle.

In March 2025, Bushmills released 46-year-old ‘Secrets of the River Bush’, the oldest Irish single malt to date.
