Tequila El Mexicano takes new look nationwide
By Ted SimmonsFoley Family Wines & Spirits (FFWS) has redesigned its El Mexicano line of Tequila, with the new bottles available across the US.

The Bañuelos family produce El Mexicano Tequila at NOM 1588. The new packaging shows three concentric arches, representing the three generations of the Bañuelos family and the Hacienda El Mexicano’s archways. An embedded symbol depicts an agave field with a piña and a setting sun, a nod to the Jalisco highlands.
The new package design will feature on the brand’s three expressions. The range includes a Blanco, bottled at 40% ABV and listed at US$40; a Blanco 90, bottled at 45% ABV and listed at US$50; and a Reposado, which is aged for 90 days in 80% American oak and 20% French oak, bottled at 40% ABV, and priced at US$45.
In 2024, FFWS became the sole importer of El Mexicano in the US and globally.
“Premium Tequila trends are fueled by consumers and bartenders who are embracing more culturally authentic, superior, and pure quality Tequilas that are crafted without additives,” said FFWS CMO Jason Daniel. “Tequila El Mexicano is like no other – a family-owned and operated gem, backed by three generations of expertise and legacy, made the right way.”
In 1973, Don Félix Bañuelos and his son León helped to create Cazadores Tequila, which the family sold in 2002. Brothers León Jr and Willy create Tequila El Mexicano using a “low and slow” cooking process and open-air fermentation.
FFWS’ portfolio includes High Ground Estate Vodka, Minden Mill Single Estate Whiskeys, and Lighthouse Gin from New Zealand
