St Petroni vermouth joins Pernod portfolio
By Melita KielyFrench drinks group Pernod Ricard has taken full ownership of St Petroni vermouth maker Vermutería de Galicia.

While full details of the acquisition have not been disclosed, Pernod Ricard confirmed it is now the sole owner of the vermouth brand.
Pernod Ricard entered the vermouth category by taking a majority stake in Vermutería de Galicia in 2020.
Founded in 2014, St Petroni vermouth was inspired by nature and is made with Albariño grapes and 29 herbs and botanicals.
It is crafted in Padrón, Spain, in the northern region of Galicia.
The St Petroni vermouth range includes three expressions: Vermu Rojo, Vermu Blanco, and Bitter.
The purchase follows Pernod Ricard’s acquisition of Inverroche gin in February this year. Pernod, whose portfolio includes brands such as Beefeater Gin and Jameson Irish whiskey, aims to establish Inverroche as “Africa’s first global luxury spirit brand”.
The Paris-headquartered group first bought a majority stake in South African spirits producer Inverroche Distillery for an undisclosed amount in 2019.
Pernod Ricard has also sold several brands in the past year, mainly focused on wine and ‘non-strategic’ local brands, to allow the company to focus on ‘attractive’ premium international spirits.
Pernod Ricard offloaded blended Scotch Clan Campbell and Becherovka liqueur in 2024, and expects to complete the sale of its whole portfolio of Nordic brands (which includes Minttu liqueur) by the second half of its financial year.
Last August, the group purchased a minority stake in Lewis Hamilton’s alcohol-free agave ‘spirit’ brand Almave.
