Mikolasch makes noise in new markets

Ukrainian vodka brand Mikolasch has been busy expanding its global footprint and is currently in talks to break into six new markets.

Since the start of 2025, the vodka brand, owned by Origen X Group, has added Canada, France, India, the UAE, Armenia and Georgia to its market availability. It is currently in talks to also expand in the US, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Romania, Germany and the Netherlands.

In October 2024, Mikolasch signed a distribution deal with Sky Spirits in Greece. Today, the vodka brand is available via 23 off-trade accounts in Athens, two in Thessaloniki, and 12 in Crete.

Meanwhile, in the UK, Mikolasch’s distributor Nightcap Brands has reported “an incredibly positive first nine months for the brand in the UK, despite the challenging market conditions”.

Ciaran McNicholas, founder of Nightcap Brands, continued: “We are thrilled to share that both retailers and on-trade venues have warmly welcomed Mikolasch, particularly appreciating the more affordable price point of £25 [US$32] RRP.

“We are proud to report that we have achieved 23 new retail listings, six wholesale listings supplying the on-trade nationally, with many venues now pouring the product.

“Highlights include a retail listing across Amathus stores and The Whisky Exchange, as well as on-trade listings with Amano Hotel, Café Francois, and Anglian Country Inns, to name just a few.”

Swiss spirits company Origen X Group relaunched Mikolasch Vodka in 2024. The Mikolasch family has produced vodka in Lviv, Ukraine, since 1842 using authentic agricultural methods.

The brand has two varieties: the ‘Single Farm’, distilled from traceable farmed organic corn; and the ‘Cuvée’, a blend distilled from unique grains, which will launch in autumn 2025.

Origen X’s portfolio also includes Kinahan’s Irish whiskey, and Bagots Irish whiskey.

Last year, the company launched the Irish Bottling Company, which can produce up to five million bottles annually.

Origen X Group CEO Zak Oganian has appeared on The Spirits Business Podcast, where he discussed his commitment to building legacy spirits brands, and the challenges that come with navigating markets such as Ukraine.
