Gabriel Boudier brings the heat with chipotle liqueur

French producer Gabriel Boudier has created spicy liqueur flavoured with chipotle jalapeño peppers.

A fusion of smoke and spice, the new flavour is the latest addition to Gabriel Boudier’s range of bartender liqueurs.

The producer said the release of a chipotle liqueur represents its continuing push on the boundaries of flavour, where it crafts gins, liqueurs and fruit creams for spirits specialists and mixology experts worldwide.

Originally from Mexico, chipotle is a dried and smoked preparation of the jalapeño pepper. The new liqueur is made with an infusion of chipotle peppers, including grey and Kampot peppers, with raisins, nutmeg, and ginger flavours.

The liqueur begins with an ‘intense and spicy heat’ on the palate, while finish is described as being ‘marked by a slight sweetness’ that softens the vibrancy of the pepper.

The spicy liqueur is offered at 15% ABV and is said to shine in a Spicy Margarita cocktail when paired with blanco Tequila and fresh lime juice.

It also pairs with smoky serves, Tequila or mezcal-based cocktails, and can be used to enhance the flavour of culinary sauces.

Gabriel Boudier Chipotle Liqueur is now available through Emporia Brands’ distribution network in the UK.

Last year, the brand launched a turmeric-flavoured liqueur, created by the 2023 winner of the brand’s Wizard Award Competition, Xander Driver.

Last month, Gabriel Boudier crowned Ashley Haines as the winner of this year’s Wizard Award competition with his Sweet Woodruff liqueur.
