English Whisky Week debuts
By Ted SimmonsEnglish Whisky Week, which will take place on 19-27 April, will be a celebration of quality, innovation, and community.

The English Whisky Guild will hold the inaugural event on 19-27 April across the country. The week will bring enthusiasts, distillers, and the wider whisky community together to celebrate the rich heritage and future of the category.
“English Whisky Week is a unique opportunity to showcase the incredible talent and passion within our industry,” said CEO Morag Garden. “We are excited to bring together distilleries from across the country and share the stories behind their exceptional whiskies.”
The week will include tastings and masterclasses that showcase the diverse flavours and styles of the category, as well as distillery tours, and exclusive events and community engagements.
“English Whisky Week is a fantastic moment to shine a light on the energy, quality and innovation coming out of our category,” said Dan Szor, founder of The Cotswolds Distillery. “At the Cotswolds Distillery, we’ve been proud pioneers of English whisky since 2014, and we’re thrilled to be celebrating with a week full of flavour and discovery.”
The Cotswolds Distillery will be offering two-for-one distillery tours all week long.
The English Whisky Guild has been lobbying for geographic status for the style. However there has been some pushback from the Scotch Whisky Association and whisky makers within England. Education and awareness are paramount for any subcategory looking to gain traction, and the newly established Whisky Week will do its best to shine a spotlight on the producers creating the style.
“We’re incredibly proud to be part of such a passionate and innovative community of whisky distilleries celebrating together,” said Abbie and Chris Jaume, co-founders of Cooper King Distillery. “English whisky is gaining international recognition, and events like this help to highlight the quality and creativity our distilleries bring to the table.”
