Bemakers joins UK’s DBT export directory
By Miona MadsenDanish distribution platform Bemakers has been approved by the UK’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT) as a provider of services.

The cooperation is said to reinforce Bemakers’ commitment to helping UK beverage brands expand into Europe by simplifying the cross-border distribution and opening new markets and sales channels.
Bemakers will now be part of the UK’s Department for Business and Trade’s Export Support Directory (ESD) global network of in-market experts, providers, and specialists, which provides targeted support to UK businesses expanding internationally.
The ESD is designed to connect UK exporters with vetted local service providers who can assist with everything from distribution and compliance to sales and market entry.
Since the implementation of Brexit in 2020, entering the European beverage market has become more complex for UK brands.
Bemakers aims to help brands that face a steeper path to market than before handle excise duties and VAT registration, and navigate different national regulations.
With a fully digital platform, Bemakers enables beverage brands to access key European markets without needing local subsidiaries, importers, or distributors.
UK brands can reach consumers, businesses, wholesalers, and retail monopolies in markets including Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and Norway through a single setup.
Morten Rinder Stengaard, CEO and co-founder of Bemakers, sees the cooperation with DBT as a natural step in making European expansion more accessible for UK brand owners.
Stengaard said: “The UK has a rich tradition of spirits, beers, and wines, and many producers are eager to reach European consumers. The challenge has always been the complexity of cross-border distribution, compliance, logistics, and taxation. That’s where Bemakers come in.
“Through this cooperation with the DBT, we aim to make European market access as straightforward as possible for UK beverage brands.”
Last year, the platform raised €3.5 million (US$3.8m) in a seed funding round to boost its business in Europe.
Last month, Bemakers expanded its reach across mainland Spain and the Spanish islands, making its spirits portfolio available to more than 47 million consumers.
