New York distillers launch Trails app
By Ted SimmonsThe New York Distillers Guild has created NY Distillery Trails, a new app that allows consumers to discover, visit, and purchase spirits from craft producers within the state.

The app comes on the heels of new legislation that allows New York distillers to ship direct-to-consumer (DTC) nationwide, a privilege wine producers have enjoyed since 2005.
“With the signing of this legislation, New York continues its tradition of supporting homegrown entrepreneurship,” said Brian Facquet, founder and head distiller of Do Good Spirits and guild president. “Our new NY Distillery Trails app is the perfect companion to this historic change.”
The app was developed in partnership with Visit Widget and serves as a comprehensive guide to New York’s growing distilling scene, which includes producers in Brooklyn and 25 stops through the Hudson Valley. It is being positioned as similar to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, which drives tourism for the state and sales for distillers.
On the app, users will be able to explore distillery trails with themed routes like ‘Long Island Adventure’, ‘Fun in the Finger Lakes and Central NY’, ‘Chill in the Catskills’, and ‘Wander Westchester’. Additional functions include browsing distillers by spirit type, creating custom itineraries, and purchasing spirits DTC.
“From seasoned enthusiasts to first-time explorers, our NY Distillery Trails app offers a tailor-made experience for discovering world-class spirits,” added guild executive director Teresa Casey. “Combined with the new DTC legislation, it’s never been easier to support local distillers, visit and taste the best of New York, and share these exceptional products with others.”
The NY Distillery Trails App is now available for download on both Google Play and iOS.
