New Jinro distillery in Vietnam will make 5m cases per year
By Melita KielyKorean company Hite-Jinro, producer of the world’s biggest-selling spirit Jinro, has started building its first overseas production plant in Vietnam.

On 6 February, Kim In-Kyu, Hite-Jinro CEO, revealed the company had officially broken ground on the new facility at the Green i-Park industrial complex in the Thai Binh province of Vietnam.
Its purpose will be to become a key hub for production and distribution of the Jinro soju brand as it continues its growth internationally.
CEO In-Kyu said: “Breaking ground on our first overseas production plant in Vietnam is especially meaningful, as it was the starting point of our global soju exports.
“This Vietnam plant will serve as a gateway for expanding into the global market, particularly in Southeast Asia, and as a major turning point in our journey to becoming a comprehensive global liquor company. We expect it to play a crucial role in popularising Jinro worldwide.”

The facility will be ready by 2026. It will span 82,082sqm– 11 times bigger than a football field, for reference. It will be able to produce up to five million cases annually.
Hite-Jinro said it will incorporate cutting-edge smart factory technology.
In 2024, the company unveiled its ‘Global Vision 2030’ plan in Vietnam, reiterating its commitment to build Jinro into a global brand.
Last year, Jinro reported a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 73% in the UK over the past three years.
In 2023, the Korean spirit suffered a 3.5% fall, but it still shifted an enormous 97.4 million cases, according to The Brand Champions 2024 report.
