Green River launches first ad campaign

The new Raise Your Spirits campaign from Green River evokes the brand’s long history with a spiritual twist.

The Raise Your Spirits campaign nods towards the brand’s long history in Kentucky

In Green River Distilling’s first ad campaign, the producer celebrates its history with a supernatural connection to the past.

The national campaign will roll out across streaming, TV, digital video, social, and out-of-home.

The advertisement features a spectre as spokesperson, named G.R., the Ghost of Green River. Each of the comedic spots, which will run in will run in 30-second and 15-second increments, opens with the tagline “We revived Green River. And, accidentally, its ghost.”

“Green River’s legacy is not just about our storied past, it’s about the spirited persistence that drives us forward,” Pete Marino, president of Bardstown Bourbon and Green River, said.

Based in Owensboro, Green River was founded in 1885 and is the 10th oldest distillery licensed in Kentucky.

Bardstown purchased Green River in 2022 and continues to invest in the brand.

“Our industry faces new obstacles and challenges, but we’re leaning into our strong brand and products and investing in accelerating Green River’s growth,” Marino said.

“The Raise Your Spirits brand campaign will help us do that by bringing our distillery’s premium whiskey, timeless heritage, and of course, G.R., the Ghost of Green River, to a national audience.”

The campaign was conceived by Forsman & Bodenfors and is launching in paid partnership with sports talk host Colin Cowherd, and with digital advertisements with Major League Baseball.
