Double Chicken Please unveils $400 cocktail
By Rupert HohwielerNew York’s Double Chicken Please has collaborated with art collective MSCHF to create a US$400 cocktail for Valentine’s Day, complete with lab-grown diamond.

MSCHF (pronounced ‘mischief’) launched the line of rock candy rings on 6 February, which are made from lab-grown diamonds and come with a sterling silver band. The rings are also encased in seven grams of sugar, which melt away when the user sucks on them to release three flavours: strawberry, blueberry, and green apple.
As MSCHF’s beverage partner, Double Chicken Please has altered the Rock Candy Ring with a trick hiding within.
As the frozen candy melts away, a cocktail named Pop The Question is uncovered – based on the Bijou, a classic French drink that originated in the late 19th century – as well as a real 0.75 carat lab diamond.
The name ‘bijou’ is French for jewel.
The cocktail is made with three ingredients that take after different gemstones and their colours: Fords Gin (diamond), sweet vermouth (ruby) and green chartreuse (emerald).
Other ingredients include Tana, a herbal ingredient from Taiwan, and Everleaf Forest.
If you fancy putting a ring on it in cocktail form, the serve is available at Double Chicken Please’s Free Range space for US$400, while supplies last.
The cocktail measures 100ml and has an ABV of 13%.
Double Chicken Please said the collaboration intends to ‘craft something truly unique and playful’, while celebrating the vision of both brands, which is to push the boundaries of flavour, art, and experience.
Opened in late 2020, Double Chicken Please is located in New York’s Lower East Side and has found fame for its culinary-inspired cocktails, such as the Cold Pizza and French Toast.
Last year, the bar updated its front room with a new look, menu and name: Free Range.
