CWF creates liqueur inspired by 1950s diners

Yorkshire-based drinks producer Continental Wine & Food (CWF) has launched Lacey’s Vodkashake, a milkshake cream liqueur, in the UK.

The new cream liqueur is inspired by 1950s American diner-style milkshakes, but are free from dairy and gluten.

Lacey’s Vodkashake comes in two varieties – banana and strawberry – and can be served as chilled shots or added to hard milkshakes or cocktails.

The liqueurs are made with vodka, natural fruit flavours, and a creamy base.

The brand aims to ‘redefine the creamy liqueur category and shake up the sector’.

According to CGA data, the UK’s on-trade sector has recently experienced a notable growth in cream liqueurs, increasing by nearly 30% in 2023. This rise is attributed to the popularity of short serves like the Baby Guinness and cocktails such as White Russians and Espresso Martinis.

Amy Giacobbi, marketing manager at CWF, said: “Creamy cocktails are shrugging off their traditional festive associations and becoming an all-year-round drink of choice, with ice cream cocktails, hard milkshakes and chilled shots now on trend with drinkers looking for sweeter alternatives to traditional serves.

“Additionally, with 10% of UK adults being lactose intolerant, along with consumers choosing a plant-based diet, it’s great to offer a drink that appeals to so many people.”

Offered at 15% ABV, Lacey’s Vodkashake retails for £12 (US$15) in a 700ml bottle and is now available at 500 B&M stores in the UK.
