Italian spirits group Molinari has partnered with Schwarze und Schlichte to lead its distribution in the German market.

With the new partnership, Molinari hopes to strengthen its position in Germany

From April 2025, Schwarze und Schlichte will take over the exclusive distribution of Molinari’s portfolio in Germany from Volume Spirits.

The brand’s range includes Molinari Extra sambuca, Molinari Caffè sambuca and coffee liqueur, and Limoncello di Capri in Germany.

Dirk Hasenbein, managing director of Schwarze und Schlichte, commented: “We are looking forward to contributing to Molinari’s future success in Germany. These traditional brands seamlessly complement our existing range of high-quality spirits and offer significant growth potential.”

The strategic partnership is said to highlight the commitment of both family-run companies to elevate their traditional brands to the next level.

Inga Schmidt, head of marketing at Schwarze und Schlichte, said: “We see tremendous potential in leveraging our top-tier sales and marketing expertise to drive new momentum for Molinari’s products in both the retail and gastronomy sector. This partnership gives us the opportunity to serve the sambuca segment – with the market leader.”

The Italian liqueur brand joins Schwarze und Schlichte’s portfolio of international brands, which includes Three Sixty, Knut Hansen Gin, Déjà-Vu Aperitif, Shatler’s Cocktails, Ron Piet, and Bärenjäger.

Mario Molinari, chief operations officer at Molinari Italia, stated: “Schwarze und Schlichte is the ideal partner to further establish our products in Germany and strengthen our position. With their extensive marketing and sales expertise in the spirits industry, we are confident that together, we can inject new energy into the German market.

“We would like to thank Volume Spirits for their invaluable contributions in promoting our Italian lifestyle in Germany over the past few years.”

Molinari is available in 70 countries and is the ‘global market leader’ in the sambuca category with a market share of more than 69% in Italy and over 30% worldwide.

Last year, Limoncello di Capri expanded its range with a cream liqueur.
