The managing director of The Last Drop Distillers, Rebecca Jago, has left her position after more than a decade at the company.

The Last Drop Distillers, which was purchased by Sazerac in 2016 for an undisclosed sum, specialises in fine and rare spirits with an aim of finding some of the world’s finest and limited bottlings.

The company was founded in 2008 by James Espey and Rebecca Jago’s late father, Tom Jago, who died in 2018 at the age of 93.

The Last Drop celebrated its 15th anniversary last year and also expanded its team with Alice Small joining as global senior marketing and sales manager, and Lucy Horncastle as operations manager.

Jago announced her departure with a post on LinkedIn shortly before Christmas.

The post read: “On 31st December 2024, I will step down as managing director of The Last Drop Distillers, after more than 10 wonderful years: I joined the business in 2014, and was part of the team which managed the sale of the company to Sazerac in 2016.

“In the years since then, we have seen this remarkable business grow in size, profitability and reputation, to the place we are today: a highly respected and renowned luxury spirits brand, proud to be part of the Sazerac Company’s portfolio and represented by their incredible team globally: ‘the star on top of the Christmas tree’.

“I am immensely proud of everything we have achieved over the last eight years with Sazerac, including a major rebrand and the doubling in size of the business, at least twice! I shall look forward to seeing how The Last Drop grows and evolves in the coming years, and to remaining involved, in a new capacity. I will never stop flying the flag for James and Tom’s brilliant idea and legacy, or for the teams at Sazerac who have been instrumental in allowing us to achieve such success.”

New leadership yet to be decided

Sazerac is currently finalising plans for the next phase of The Last Drop’s leadership and Jago’s successor.

The company issued a statement announcing Jago’s retirement, which also confirmed that she will return in an ambassadorial capacity.

Sazerac said in the statement: “Rebecca has been the visionary and ambassador for this extraordinary brand, whose passion and dedication have shaped the brand into the essence of rarity and excellence it is today.

“While Rebecca is stepping away from managing director responsibilities, we are thrilled to share that she will continue to be part of The Last Drop family in a new capacity. Beginning March 2025, Rebecca will return in an ambassadorial capacity for The Last Drop brand experiences, supporting the much-anticipated launch of our spring release.

“Please join us in celebrating Rebecca’s remarkable contributions and wishing her all the best in this exciting new chapter. Her influence and spirit will continue to resonate deeply within The Last Drop, and we are delighted to know that her presence and insight will remain a part of our journey.”
