Dictador teams up with Richard Orlinski
By Rupert HohwielerColombian rum producer Dictador has released a series of limited edition bottles designed by contemporary French artist Richard Orlinski.

The bottle is inspired by Orlinski’s signature Kong sculptures, featuring a ‘Kong-head’ cork and street-art colours and patterns. Six different designs are available.
Named Dictador Game Changer, the bottle houses the brand’s premium aged rum, which is made with virgin sugarcane honey and aged on the Caribbean coast.
The liquid is said to have notes of crème brûlée and toasted oak and a ‘layered honeyed oaky depth of flavour’.
Dictador said the collaboration is a way for the brand to ‘redefine the world of contemporary spirits’. The range debuted in Paris last November with a showcase of the blue design, which is an exclusive release for the French market.
The Game Changer Orlinski bottles are priced at €175 (US$182).
Orlinski was made an Officer for the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2021 by the French minister of culture Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin. His work has drawn a following on social media with nearly nine million followers on Instagram, and he’s recognised as one of biggest-selling contemporary French artists.
Previously, Dictador has a released a rum collection, the M-City Golden Cities series, which had a combined value of US$1billion. Each bottle in the collection was made handmade with 24-carat gold and had a starting price of US$1.5 million.
As the rum market evolves and consumer tastes broaden, premium-and-above rums are becoming more popular.
The category has been touted as the next big category to watch on the secondary market, with collectable offerings potentially rivalling those from whisky and Cognac.
