SB Advent: Tatratea liqueur
With only two nights until Christmas, it’s time to get cosy with hot cocktails made with tea-based herbal liqueur Tatratea.
Born in the heart of the Tatra Mountains in Slovakia, Tatratea is a unique herbal liqueur made with black tea, natural fruit extracts and herbs. The brand captures the purity of its surroundings, combining mountain water and craftsmanship to create a one-of-a-kind beverage described as ‘both innovative and deeply rooted in tradition’.
Tatratea comes from a small, family-owned distillery where generations of passion and expertise combine to guarantee that each bottle meets the highest quality standards. The molasses and prime fruit distillates-based liqueur is made with ingredients left to rest and infuse for up to eight weeks in a tank, allowing them to gently mix. The brand offers a wide range of tea liqueurs at different alcohol strengths and colourful designs, including the Original at 52% ABV, Apple & Pear at 67% ABV, Peach at 43% ABV, Coconut at 22% ABV, Citrus at 32% ABV, Forest Fruit at 62% ABV and Outlaw at 72% ABV.

Black
Ingredients:
- 40ml Tatratea 52 % Original
- Hot Assam black tea cooked in apple juice
- 1/2 Freshly squeezed lemon
- 3 bar spoons of caramelised honey to sweeten
Method: Pour honey into a pan and add water as it thickens. Cook black tea in apple juice. Add the liqueur, lemon, and caramelised honey. Mix everything and serve in a clay mug.
Honeymoon
Ingredients:
- 40ml Tatratea 42 % Peach
- 100ml Hot white wine
- 100ml Hot water
- Sugar
- Cinnamon stick
- Cloves
Method: Heat the white wine and water in a saucepan over low heat without boiling. Add a cinnamon stick and cloves to the mixture, allowing the spices to infuse for 3–5 minutes. Sweeten with sugar to taste, stirring until fully dissolved. Remove the saucepan from the heat and pour in Tatratea 42% Peach. Pour the drink into a mug and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
Noah
Ingredients:
- 40ml Tatratea 67 % Apple & Pear
- 200ml Hot currant juice (alternatives – apple or pear juice)
- Sugar or honey
Method: Heat the juice – currant, pear, or apple, according to your preference – and pour it into a mug. Add the liqueur and sweeten with sugar or honey. Garnish with a slice of pear covered with cinnamon powder.
