DP World delivers 3,000 meals to charities
By Miona MadsenDP World’s logistics hubs in Southampton and London Gateway have donated the equivalent of 3,000 meals to local food distribution charities.

The logistics company’s donations will help support hundreds of households across Essex, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Dorset, and Wiltshire during the Christmas period.
The food donations from DP World’s logistics hubs were given to long-term charitable partners FareShare in Southampton and Thurrock Foodbank in Essex.
These partners work with more than 200 local charities and community groups across their respective regions.
Simon Ryan, regional manager at FareShare Southern Central, stated: “We are so grateful to everyone at DP World for their continued support for FareShare. Every day, the food we redistribute to over 150 charities across the region helps to strengthen communities.
“From homelessness shelters and after-school clubs to refugees and older people’s lunch clubs, these groups are all working harder than ever to bring people together through food and help them access essential support services. By donating to FareShare, DP World staff will make a huge difference in helping us make the food go further.”
DP World employees and their families donated the food parcels as part of the annual Winter Wonderland celebrations at the Southampton and London Gateway logistics hubs. During the celebrations, attendees enjoyed a range of festive attractions, including fairground rides, Santa’s grotto, food stalls, and a fireworks display.
Ernst Schulze, CEO for ports and terminals at DP World UK, said: “It is fantastic to see the incredible support we’ve been able to provide to households across the regions where we operate during the festive period. I’m very proud of our employees and their families who made the food donations and ensured that the Winter Wonderlands at Southampton and London Gateway were another massive success.”
Last month, DP World donated £5,000 (US$6,290) to The Big Difference charity to help establish its newest food distribution centre, which is set to be the largest community pantry in Southampton.
This year, DP World launched a carbon reduction programme at its UK hubs and announced that it had removed more than 60,000 trucks from UK roads as part of the Modal Shift scheme.
The company also opened a second rail service between its Southampton and London Gateway logistics hubs in October.
