The Glasgow Distillery has released its second batch of annual cask strength single malts following the sold-out inaugural edition.

Both 2024 small batch editions comprise three casks that showcase the distillery’s signature styles across unpeated and peated single malt production.

Mike Hayward, co-founder of The Glasgow Distillery, commented: “Following the sell-out success of Glasgow 1770 Cask Strength Batch 01, we wanted to offer our community another opportunity to experience our whisky as it comes, straight from the cask – bold, pure, and full of character.

“At The Glasgow Distillery, we’re passionate about every stage of the production process, from our hands-on distilling process to selecting the best possible casks for maturation.

“By sharing these whiskies in their purest form, we’re able to offer our community a more direct connection to our craft and the unique, evolving character of Glasgow 1770 single malt.”

Glasgow 1770 The Original Cask Strength Batch 02 is offered at 59.5% ABV and limited to 750 bottles.

The Original is made with the distillery’s unpeated double-distilled spirits. It is a marriage of three barrels, handpicked for their ‘defining fruity characteristic’. The result is a single malt displaying zesty Seville orange marmalade notes, dried apricot, toffee apple, poached pear, toasted pineapple, dark fruits and vanilla.

The second expression, Glasgow 1770 Peated Cask Strength Batch 02, has an ABV of 60.7% with 1,000 bottles available.

A combination of three hogsheads, the peated single malt is said to bring together the distillery’s signature barbecue-forward smoke with notes of tobacco leaf, smoked Iberico ham, sticky poached plums, dried apricot and flamed orange zest.

Both releases are now available on The Glasgow Distillery website and from specialist retailers across the UK, with an RRP of £64 (US$82) for The Original Cask Strength and £66 (US$85) for the Peated Cask Strength.

At The Scotch Whisky Masters, Glasgow 1770 Peated Cask Strength was awarded a Gold medal, and The Original Cask Strength took home a Silver medal.

In addition to single malt whisky, The Glasgow Distillery’s portfolio includes the brand’s Makar Gin, Banditti Club Rum, G52 Botanical Vodka and Malt Riot Blended Malt.

Earlier this year, the distillery released a trio of peated single malts under its 1770 whisky range, each finished in a different cask.
