Gin Bothy secures ‘significant’ backing
Scottish spirits producer Gin Bothy has gained ‘significant’ investment from Neace Ventures and Dark Blue Property Holdings, owner of Dundee Football Club, to drive its expansion.
The strategic partnership with Dark Blue Property and US-based Neace Ventures will enable the creation of a board of directors.
Based in Angus, Scotland, Gin Bothy produces a range of gin, rum and liqueurs, alongside jams and spirit-infused marmalades. The company uses local seasonal fruit for its products and sells more than 70,000 units annually across the globe.
Gin Bothy founder Kim Cameron said of the partnership: “This is the right move at the right time for the brand and will help us to grow both within spirit-specific sectors and our international markets.”
Cameron said the investments would be “fundamental to the growth of all the Bothy brands” and support the launch of a new spirit later this month.
Now known as Bothy Trading, the business houses all the Bothy brands including Gin Bothy, Jam Bothy, Bothy Butter, Hipflask Spirits, Rum Bothy, and The Bothy Experience visitor centre in the village of Glamis.
The brand also operates The Bothy Larder shop in the town of Forfar, in Angus.
The company celebrated its 10th anniversary this year and has recently moved to new premises in Forfar to expand its production.
Cameron continued: “We have an amazing opportunity to create something very special, we’re incredibly excited and passionate about this deal that will allow us to really drive expansion forward.”
Dark Blue Property, which is also a shareholder in 71 Brewing in Dundee, brings experience in the drinks industry and the global market to the Bothy business.
Meanwhile, Neace Ventures is based in Louisville, Kentucky, and works across the drinks and hospitality sectors in the US.
In March this year, Bothy’s London Dry-style Original Gin was selected for the nominee gift bags at the 96th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, US.
