Sapling Spirits names new chairman
By Miona MadsenLondon-based B Corp-certified spirits producer Sapling has appointed Mark Cornell as its new chairman.

Cornell is said to have extensive leadership experience in the global wine and spirits industry.
He holds a master of business administration degree from IMD Lausanne business school in Switzerland and has more than 11 years of experience in the wine and spirits sector. His career highlights include serving as CEO of Krug Champagne, president and CEO of Moët Hennessy US, and CEO of ATG Entertainment.
He joined Sapling as non-executive chairman in September 2024.
He has a ‘deep understanding’ of brand-building and distribution, particularly in the US and Asian markets. Cornell’s decision to join Sapling reflects his alignment with the company’s sustainable approach to spirit innovation.
Cornell said: “As a challenger brand within the super-premium spirits segment, with first-class product quality and with a clear commitment to sustainability, Sapling is extremely well-positioned to appeal to the trade and consumers alike, globally. At the same time, Sapling should bring a smile to many faces for all sorts of reasons. Cheers, everyone.”
Ivo Devereux and Ed Faulkner founded Sapling Spirits to promote sustainability in the spirits industry. The company’s inspiration came while the founders worked on a community tree-planting project in Scotland.
The brand offers a range of products, including vodka, London Dry Gin, and wonky raspberry vodka.
It is part of a growing movement of spirits brands using waste produce to create impressive drinks.
