Rums of Puerto Rico announces Texas tour
By Miona MadsenThe Puerto Rico government’s Rums of Puerto Rico division will tour four major Texas cities this November.

Rums of Puerto Rico is a programme of the island’s Department of Economic Development and Commerce.
The initiative aims to promote the quality and rich heritage of Puerto Rican rum in the US market, focusing on increasing awareness and availability in Texas.
The tour, which will take place from 13-16 November, is a collaborative effort between Rums of Puerto Rico and The Rum Lab, known for hosting both the Texas Rum Festival in Dallas and the Puerto Rico Rum Festival.
Together, the pair has developed a series of seminars and events designed to elevate the visibility of Puerto Rican rums within the Texas market.
The tour starts in Houston on 13 November and then makes stops at San Antonio and Austin before ending in Dallas on 16 November. The tour will feature an educational seminar each day at one of the Total Wine & More locations.
The seminars will be led by Juan Lastra, a Rums of Puerto Rico ambassador and owner of Cocktail & Bites Bar in Puerto Rico, known for creative rum-based cocktails and culinary pairings.

The seminars will spotlight two leading Puerto Rican rums: Bacardí and Don Q. Attendees will gain insights into the brands’ history, production, and flavour profiles, with opportunities to sample and purchase them on-site.
In the evenings, the tour will move to select rum and cocktail bars across Texas, where Lastra will host guest bartender shifts. During these events, attendees can enjoy unique cocktails featuring Ron del Barrilito, Bacardí and Don Q.
Ana María Ramos Baquero, director of the Rums of Puerto Rico program, said: “Texas is a key market for the rum category. Many of our leading brands are already available in the Lone Star State, and with this tour, we aim to further enhance brand recognition and connect consumers with the unique story and flavours of Puerto Rican rum.”
With a growing demand for premium spirits and craft cocktails, the Rums of Puerto Rico tour promises a ‘valuable opportunity’ for consumers and industry professionals to explore Puerto Rican rum’s versatility.
Tickets for the tour and more information are available on Rums of Puerto Rico’s Instagram and the Texas Rum Fest website.
In August, The Rum Lab hosted its ninth annual San Francisco Rum Festival and Congress and attended the SeaMerchants event at Caña Rum Bar in downtown Los Angeles to highlight the Daiquiri cocktail.
