Also known as California Rum Fest NoCal Edition, the two-day event is held at Somarts Centre in San Francisco.

The ’boutique-style festival’ showcases a selection of premium and diverse rum brands available in California, one of the largest rum consumer markets in the US.

The event offers a wide range of tastings, learning opportunities for novice rum drinkers and experienced rum aficionados, and networking opportunities.

The team behind the experience is also the producer of the Puerto Rico Rum Festival, Miami Rum Congress, New York Rum Festival, LA Rum Fest, San Francisco Rum Fest, and the Chicago Rum Festival.

Tickets for the festival are now on sale on the event’s website.

Saturday: Rum Congress

The first day of the event, The Rum Congress, will be held on 31 August from 2pm to 7.15pm and will feature various seminars aimed at educating attendees about the rum industry.

The congress offers talks led by industry experts, including ‘Intro to Mister Fogg – Navy Strength Rum By Planteray Rum’, ‘French Heritage in Rhum’, and ‘Rums of the Mai Tai Through the Ages – Secrets Revealed’.

The final seminar of the day will be led by Federico Hernández, the founder of The Rum Lab. Rum industry experts from Puerto Rico will join him in exploring the rich history, unique characteristics and versatility of Puerto Rican rum.

Sunday: Rum Festival

The second day offers program sessions, competitions, seminars and comparative tasting from 1.30pm to 7.15pm.

On Sunday, attendees are offered three seminars: ‘Jamaican Ru-me Crazy’, ‘Choosing the Next Unique & Exotic Rum’, and ‘Bourbon Consumers’ Attraction to Rum’.

For the first time, the 2024 Rum Festival will include the DaiquiriMania experience, which celebrates the classic Daiquiri cocktail ‘reimagined with a modern twist and set to the nostalgic beats of retro music’. Following this year’s pilot event, the program will be officially launched in 2025.

Spirit of Saint Lucia’s fourth and final cocktail competition of the year, hosted by Bounty Rum and Reàl Ingredients, will take place at the festival in front of a live audience.
