Glen Moray: the cask explorer
By SB Staff WriterShowcasing elegance and finesse, the contemporary new premium look of Glen Moray’s Heritage range uplifts the distillery’s core expressions to new heights.

For more than 125 years, the La Martiniquaise-Bardinet-owned Glen Moray Distillery on the banks of River Lossie has perfected its craft, exploring how different woods influence its whiskies. The distillery’s records show that even in 1897, when it was established, the founders aged their spirits in an astonishing array of casks. The tradition remains one of the hallmarks of Glen Moray Speyside single malt Scotch whisky to this day.
As part of the brand’s updated global identity, the distillery has revealed a refined new look for its Heritage range. First introduced last year on its Explorer range, the revamped packaging aims to attract more whisky enthusiasts to explore the collection, which showcases the distillery’s passion for flavour.
Iain Allan, Glen Moray brand ambassador, says: “Our craftsmen are always exploring how different casks can shape Glen Moray – and the aged whiskies of our Heritage range are a fantastic showcase of their skill with wood. By transforming our packaging, we aim to celebrate their expertise and the flavours of our whiskies, as well as catching consumers’ attention with a more contemporary look. With enhanced storytelling, inspiring flavour notes and a premium feel, our updated packaging invites more drinkers to explore our whisky – and perhaps discover a new favourite.”
Tantalising flavours
The new colour‐coded design, with gold detailing featured on the label and box of each expression, highlights the distillery’s heritage, and celebrates its identity as a cask explorer. The narrative behind each whisky is presented in a more compelling manner, with detailed cask descriptions and tantalising flavour profiles to engage and educate consumers.
The new Heritage collection debuts with three single malts, aged for 12, 15, and 18 years. The Glen Moray 12‐year‐old is aged in select Bourbon casks, adding depth and smoothness to the distillery’s signature style and bringing out sweet notes of vanilla toffee, berries and summer fruits. The 15‐year‐old is a marriage of Bourbon casks and oloroso Sherry butts, resulting in sweet and spicy flavours of vanilla, dried fruits, and spiced chocolate. The 18‐year‐old is exclusively aged in first‐fill Bourbon casks, offering smooth and complex flavours of intense vanilla, caramelised fruit and spice.
Glen Moray is an expert in maturing and marrying many different types of casks, creating an array of flavours that inspire the distillery’s extensive range, which includes single malts finished in Port, rhum agricole and wine casks. Inclusive and inviting, Glen Moray’s single malts are guaranteed to offer memorable moments to enthusiasts and early whisky adopters alike, enjoyed on their own and in cocktails.
