Four cocktail recipes for London Bourbon Experience

As autumn takes shape in London, American whiskey producer Luxco is getting the capital well-acquainted with Bourbon, partnering with a number of bars to create cocktail recipes that showcase the spirit as its base.

Part of the 2024 London Bourbon Experience – Luxco’s annual celebration of the American spirit in the UK capital – the recipes highlight Remus Bourbon in classic serves such as the Old Fashioned and Whiskey Sour, and then through imaginative creations from the minds of the some of the city’s top bartenders.

The cocktails are available until 5 December, a date that marks the repeal of prohibition in the US – repealed on 5 December 1933.

Corn & Butter

Bourbon

Made by Sebastiano Cristofanon for the London Bourbon Experience, available at Nightjar.

A savoury, Old Fashioned-­style Bourbon cocktail with a buttery note, balanced by a touch of coffee and pecan maple syrup for subtle sweetness and nuttiness. It delivers rich, savoury buttery flavours without being heavy or creamy, maintaining a smooth and clean texture for a unique twist on the classic Old Fashioned.

Ingredients:

  • 35ml Remus Straight Bourbon Whiskey (47% ABV)
  • 25ml Buttered corn infusion
  • 7.5ml Roasted coffee and pecan maple syrup
  • 3 dashes Cocoa bitters

Method: Stir the ingredients together and serve in an Old Fashioned glass with a chunk of clear ice, garnish with a strip of lightly charred baby corn.


Whiskey Sour

London Bourbon Experience

Made by Paul Lougrat for the London Bourbon Experience, available at Warehaus.

Bourbon with a zesty touch of lemon juice, vegan foamer, and a sweet touch of sugar.

Ingredients:

  • 45ml Remus Straight Bourbon Whiskey (47% ABV)
  • 25ml Lemon juice
  • 10ml Sugar syrup
  • Vegan foamer

Method: Shake all the ingredients together, pour into a glass, and garnish with lemon zest.


Old Fashioned

Bourbon

Available at High Water. A classic whiskey cocktail, with the perfect mix of Bourbon, bitter and sweet.

Ingredients:

  • 60ml Remus Straight Bourbon Whiskey
  • 2 dashes Aromatic bitters
  • 1 Sugar cube

Method: Mix everything together in a mixing glass, then pour over ice and garnish with orange peel and cherry.


The Frontier

London Bourbon Experience

Made by Guilherme Vieira for the London Bourbon Experience, available at Síbín Speakeasy. A mix of rich Bourbon, sweet fig, smoky Ancho Reyes, with a fresh eucalyptus aroma.

Ingredients:

  • 40ml Remus Straight Bourbon Whiskey (47% abv) infused with fig
  • 15ml Ancho Reyes
  • 10ml Maple syrup
  • 2 dashes Eucalyptus

Method: Mix all the ingredients together in the mixing glass and stir. Pour straight over ice, and garnish with chilli.
