Eleven Madison Park team opens Clemente in NYC
Clemente Bar will be located above three-Michelin-starred Eleven Madison Park and will offer a cocktail menu from the restaurant’s beverage director, Sebastian Tollius.
The bar takes its name from neo-expressionist artist Francesco Clemente, who has provided three large-scale artworks for the space, including a ceiling fresco near the entrance.
Interiors were designed by Brad Cloepfil of Allied Works, who oversaw Eleven Madison Park’s renovation in 2017.
Eight seats are available at The Counter, with space for an additional 30.
The cocktail menu is divided into six sections: Fresh, Carbonated, Clarified, Whipped, Bold, and Zero Proof/Low Alc.
One cocktail in the Bold section is Against The Grain, which is a twist on an Old Fashioned featuring The Macallan 12 Sherry Oak, Amontillado Sherry, shochu, barley and plantain miso.
From the Carbonated section, La Tomatina is a Tequila Highball made with Mijenta reposado, olive sake, tomato water and white chocolate amazake. The Negroni Colada sits in the Clarified section and blends Planteray Cut & Dry Rum, Luxardo Bitter Bianco, blanco vermouth and pineapple.
Food will also be on offer, with the menu entirely plant-based, as it is at Eleven Madison Park. Diners can choose between a prix-fixe menu at The Counter and a selection of bar snacks. Snacks include avocado pockets with sushi rice, finger lime and shiso, and ‘thrice-fried’ potato with rosemary, lemon and pommery mayo.
This month, New York City also welcomed a third Dear Irving site and Monkey Thief in Hell’s Kitchen.
