Woven opens whisky studio in London
By Miona MadsenLeith-based contemporary whisky maker Woven has established a whisky-blending studio in Hoxton, London.

The ‘first-of-its-kind’ blending studio outside Scotland opened at 155 Hoxton Street, east London, on 13 September.
Woven’s London Studio will be dedicated to whisky experimentation, offering a fusion of innovation, education, and interaction. The studio will host trade masterclasses for bartenders and act as a blending lab by day. By night, it will open for various events, including whisky tastings, a Highball bar, and intimate retail experiences.
The studio’s bespoke blending service allows whisky enthusiasts to create a whisky tailored to their personal taste, complete with a customised label.
Brand ambassador Lara Farrow said: “It’s more than just a studio. It’s a creative playground for the whisky curious, where people can explore new flavours and create something truly personal.”
Woven was founded in 2021 by three friends and embraces a ‘borderless’ philosophy, which includes blending whiskies from across the globe to create ‘exciting and diverse’ flavour experiences.
Peter Allison, co-founder and whisky maker, explained: “We’re about discovering what’s possible in whisky, not just preserving tradition. Opening a studio in London gives us the creative freedom to push boundaries, especially with the exciting energy surrounding whisky in England.”
While Scotch whisky must be made, aged, blended, and bottled in Scotland, the new London location acts as an experimentation hub, especially for whiskies from other regions.
“Our non-Scotch products have always been blended outside of Scotland, so we’ve not broken any laws yet,” said Allison. “But the London studio offers us even more freedom, opening up new possibilities for collaboration with our partner distilleries south of the border.”
Previously, Woven hosted successful ‘open studio’ events at Leith’s Biscuit Factory.
Woven’s east London site will host collaborations with whisky bars such as The Gate in Glasgow and Cut Your Wolf Loose in Brighton, as well as tasting events with international distilleries, including Thomson Whisky in New Zealand and White Peak Distillery in Yorkshire.
Each Friday, the studio will transform into a Whisky Highball bar, serving up a ‘fresh take’ on whisky cocktails.
Allison added: “We want to build a community here, just as we did in Leith. This is a space where whisky lovers and flavour explorers can come together, share ideas, and enjoy the diverse world of whisky.”
