Ron Carúpano celebrates National Rum Day
By Lauren BowesVenezuelan brand Ron Carúpano has created a marketing campaign called Taste the Exceptional, coinciding with National Rum Day today (16 August).

The initiative invites rum enthusiasts to experience and understand Ron Carúpano’s heritage and innovation, with a particular focus on the brand’s Prestige Collection.
The manifesto of the campaign reads: “To truly know ourselves is to understand our tastes and refuse to settle for anything less. We strive to create unforgettable moments where we feel truly special. With infinite possibilities before us, it is our curiosity and pursuit of excellence that lead us to: Taste the Exceptional.”
The Prestige Collection comprises three rums, beginning with Ron Carúpano Reserve 1996. The limited edition rum is created through a double-ageing process and is limited to 5,000 decanters.
Ron Carúpano XO features blends aged between 18 and 35 years, including Family Antique Reserves. Only 2,000 decanters are produced each year, with its notes reminiscent of ‘caramel, brioche, toffee, walnut, and almond’.
The final rum, Legendario, is the only Venezuelan rum to be aged in a single barrel for 25 years. Only 500 crystal decanters are produced annually.
Ron Carúpano’s roots stretch back more than 260 years, with the brand stating that its rum’s quality is ‘shaped by a demanding environment, a unique microclimate, extensive ageing of sugar cane alcohol, pure spring water, and more than two centuries of blending expertise’.
Carmen López de Bastidas, the brand’s master blender and the first Venezuelan woman to hold such a role, has spent 32 years creating Ron Carúpano rums.
