Komos debuts Reposado Cristalino

Ultra-premium Tequila brand Komos has launched a Reposado Cristalino expression exclusively for global travel retail (GTR).

GTR-exclusive Komos Reposado Cristalino is offered at 40% ABV and retails for US$130

The Tequila made its debut this month in duty free shops in major US airports, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America.

Richard Betts, co-founder and co-CEO of Casa Komos Brands Group (CKBG), said: “Tequila Komos was created with a global mindset and designed to be enjoyed all day and night, wherever you travel.

“The launch of this GTR-exclusive expression further expands our reach at a time when accessibility to ultra-premium tequila is still nuanced but international travel continues to rebound post-Covid.

“It allows us to reach new consumers and demographics and bring Komos Reposado Cristalino to those who share our passion for wanderlust and revelry.”

The Tequila is made from 100% Blue Weber agave, hand-harvested from both the highlands and lowlands in Jalisco, Mexico, and aged for six months in French oak barrels formerly used for red and white wine.

The spirit is filtered with charcoal to remove impurities, creating a smooth, crystal-clear liquid. The final touch is aeration, which makes for a softer and smoother mouthfeel and adds richness and roundness to the palate, the brand said.

Profile-wise, a ‘rich, roasted agave-forward’ nose is complemented by a palate of ‘smoky minerality and hints of French oak and exquisite nuttiness’.

The Tequila is presented in a metallised ceramic bottle handmade by artisans in Mexico, and designed to be upcycled.

Sitting at 40% ABV, it is available in GTR and duty free channels for RSP US$130, alongside the brand’s other Tequila’s: Añejo Cristalino, Extra Añejo and Komos XO,

“Launching a distinctive tequila expression dedicated to the Global Trade Retail industry was the next logical step for Komos, after our highly-rated Tequila Komos portfolio became a global phenomenon in just three years, reaching 30 plus countries”, added Joe Marchese, co-founder and co-CEO of CKBG.

“Signs point to further growth in the GTR market, particularly for agave spirits, so establishing a presence in these spaces will bring even more potential for growth for the Komos portfolio.”

Earlier this year, The Spirits Business examined Tequila’s potential in travel retail, as many brands including Komos explore opportunity within the space.
