Komos debuts £2,200 Tequila in UK

Ultra-premium Tequila brand Komos has released 36 bottles of its XO expression to customers in the UK.

36 bottles are available on the Berry Bros website

Available exclusively on the Berry Bros & Rudd website, UK customers can get their hands on the expression for the price of £2,200 (US$2,760) per 700ml bottle.

Komos XO was first launched in the US on a production run of 2,000 bottles.

Richard Betts, co-founder of Komos, said: “It brings me immense pride to launch our latest and most premium expression yet with our fantastic partners at Berry Bros & Rudd.

“With XO we set out to reach the epitome of aged Tequila, meticulously designed to elevate any special moment. Having hand-picked every single barrel used, we ensured that only the finest, most refined Tequila goes into this unparalleled blend.”

The Tequila has been aged in barrels that range from three-11 years – a mix of American oak ex-Bourbon and French oak ex-wine barrels, before being finished in Spanish ex-oloroso Sherry casks.

Its notes are said to contain chocolate, vanilla, toast and smoke, as well as dried fruits. The brand describes it as ‘supremely complex and powerful’.

The liquid comes presented in an etched crystal decanter – marked with ’Batch No. 1′ – and has an ABV of 42%.

Sam Phillips, commercial manager at Berry Bros & Rudd, also commented: “I am delighted Richard Betts and Komos have chosen Berry Bros & Rudd for the exclusive launch of their fabulous first single batch outside of America.

“Agave-based spirits have been enjoying incredible growth in our business this last year across all channels from online to our private clients, both for drinking and collecting.

“It’s a particularly exciting time for spirits at Berry Bros & Rudd and I am looking forward to future ultra-luxury releases being regularly featured in our new spirits shop during 2024.”

Komos first launched its three core expressions in the UK in April.
