Himkok reveals cocktail menu with Sony Music
Oslo-based cocktail bar Himkok will launch a new menu, Beats & Sips, on 26 September in collaboration with Sony Music Norway.
Himkok, ranked number 10 on the World’s 50 Best Bars list, has curated a cocktail menu featuring local Norwegian artists creating songs inspired by the bar’s 13 new signature cocktails.
The concept blends music with Himkok’s ‘localised style and is designed to elevate the traditional drinking experience by harmonising the synergy of sound and taste’, aiming to spotlight Norway’s rich cultural heritage.
Created by Paul Aguilar, head of research and development, bar manager Maroš Dzurus and head bartender Sebastian Sandvik, the cocktails are centred around one ingredient and use in-house spirits, including aquavits, gins and distillates.
The bar’s physical menu will showcase the songs through a QR code that directs guests to Spotify. The songs, including artists such as Norway’s 2020 Idol winner and 2022 Eurovision contestant Mari Bella, pop singer Erika Norwich, and TikTok celebrity Sander Systad, will also be included on Himkok’s playlists.
Cocktails include Carrot Cake, a twist on the traditional Norwegian dessert commonly baked during festivities and celebrations. The velvety cocktail, made with Jack Daniels Bonded, carrot cake mix, and unsalted butter, is paired with a song by singer Mari Bella.
The Seabuckthorn cocktail is a sweet, sour and fruity cocktail that uses Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Cocchi Americano vermouth and cordial made from Seabuckthorn berries native to Norway’s coastline. The cocktail is paired with a song by singer Sander Systad.
To mark the menu’s launch, Himkok and Sony Music Norway will host a ‘one-of-a-kind’ listening party at Oslo’s Goldie, a newly opened nightclub. The listening party will allow guests to experience Himkok’s cocktails through the artist’s creative lens before visiting Himkok to enjoy the cocktails that inspired each song.
Himkok, meaning ‘moonshine’ in Norwegian, was established in 2015 and is credited with being the world’s first distillery bar.
