Berry Bros creates Sense of Place collection

London-based Berry Bros & Rudd has unveiled a collection of spirits inspired by landscapes across Scotland and their impact on flavour.

The first part of the series, Glens & Valleys, includes 25 bottlings from 10 Scottish distilleries

The collection, named ‘A Sense of Place’, has been divided into two sections: Glens & Valleys and Coast & Shores.

Glens & Valleys is the first release and includes 25 bottlings from 10 Scottish distilleries that are ‘strategically nestled’ in locations – from the foothills of the Grampian mountains to the Valley of the Garioch – where the water source is both ‘abundant’ and ‘pristine’.

Whiskies in the Glens & Valleys’ collection include a Glenlossie from 2011, a Glen Elgin from 2008, a Blair Athol whisky finished in a Pedro Ximénez cask,  and a Glen Garioch finished in an oloroso Sherry cask.

Certain bottlings will be available exclusively from Berry Bros, while others will be released to selected UK and international retail partners.

Felix Dear, spirits curator at Berry Bros & Rudd, said: “This release is a testament to nature and craftsmanship. As you explore these whiskies, you embark on a sensory expedition through some of Scotland’s most cherished and secluded spots.

“You’ll find whiskies that epitomise the distinctiveness of their respective distilleries, alongside the landscape they reside in; while others have the additional influence of flavour through varied cask finishes.

“These special editions have been infused with distinct flavours from casks sourced through our long-standing relationships with world-class producers.”

Coasts & Shores, the second release in the series, will follow in autumn 2024. It will feature a selection of whiskies and rums from ‘iconic’ coastal landscapes.

Earlier this year, Berry Bros opened its first store dedicated to spirits in London, and celebrated the launch with an exclusive Bowmore release.
